Vanessa Hagen
BScPT., BKin. Acupuncture
Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
I grew up in Red Deer, AB and always had an interest in how the body worked and how to prevent and treat injuries. It was from running competitive track and field from junior high into college that I decided to pursue an education focused on all things movement, injury prevention and rehabilitation. In 2005, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta and in 2000 a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. Over the past fourteen years, I have worked in the areas of private practice, women’s health, home care and occupational rehabilitation.
Starting in 2012, I started working in the area of pelvic physiotherapy because of my love for everything women’s health and the concentrated time spent with each patient. I have completed speciality training in acupuncture, training in treating incontinence (urinary and fecal), dyspareunia (painful intercourse), managing pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic girdle pain and dysfunction in pregnancy and in the post natal period as well as assessing and treating paediatric bladder and bowel problems. My approach to your care is working alongside other health practitioners in order to the best recovery.
My goal is to provide women with evidence based care and resources to nurture their return back to health and function. I love connecting with my clients in order to create a safe place for them to share their stories and goals with me. Through education, intervention, exercise and preventative health care strategies, clients are empowered to set attainable goals and feel confident. I pride myself in providing emphatic, personal care to each patient. When I am not working, you will find me spending time with my amazing husband and two daughters, biking, running and enjoying the outdoors.
